VA Corporation and LG AI research signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for AI Human and metaverse service innovation projects based on super-giant AI technology.
Through this MOU, the two companies will develop AI humans based on 'super-giant AI technology'. Super-giant AI is a technology of next-generation AI that utilizes large amounts of data and supercomputing infrastructure to reason and create on its own like the human brain, enabling humans and AI to communicate through natural language. Through the development of AI humans, the two companies will introduce virtual humans that can think comprehensively and communicate deeply based on large-scale data, rather than simply responding to commands or imitating human behavior.
In addition, as a leading company in the metaverse content area, VA Corporation has been recognized for its virtual human development technology and will join the "Expert AI Alliance" being established by LG AI Research. Through this agreement, V.A. Corporation will work with LG AI to develop AI humans that help humans in various fields of human life to present a future-oriented lifestyle for a better life.
The two companies will collaborate on researching the implementation of AI humans using AI technologies such as interactive language models and vision models that generate facial expressions and gestures, co-creating AI humans that can operate in various spaces such as metaverses and kiosks, and developing services and content using AI humans. In particular, VA Corporation will develop AI human character realization and real-time drive and control systems based on its unique VFX (visual special effects) technology and know-how, and produce AI human-related content. LG AI Research will be responsible for developing AI technologies required for AI human cognition, conversation, and behavior, as well as developing infrastructure for the practical use of the developed AI models.
On the 14th of this month, LG AI unveiled its super-giant AI, EXAONE, for the first time and announced plans to build a strategic AI alliance with external partners. Unveiled through the 'LG AI Talk Concert - The Best of 2021' YouTube video on the same day, EXAONE drew attention from the industry for its multi-modality AI capability, which handles information in various forms such as images and videos as well as language, and for having the largest number of parameters (where the contents learned through deep learning are stored) in Korea.
