VA Corporation, Final Selection of Award-Winning Works and Ceremony for Virtual Film Festival Short Film Competition

VA Corporation announced on the 22nd that they held the award ceremony for the '2023 VA Virtual Film Festival' short film competition in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and announced the final award-winning works.

The 'VA Virtual Film Festival' short film competition is the first in Korea to produce short films with a running time of around 10 minutes using Virtual Production and is a competition that supports such efforts. VA Corporation has been conducting this competition since May to contribute to the activation of the virtual production market and the development of talent.

The thriller film 'A Very Distant Place' directed by Oh Eun-young, which effectively utilized virtual production in various time settings and car driving scenes, was selected as the final winner. The final judging considered factors such as the artistic quality of the work, the utilization of virtual production technology, and overall alignment with the purpose and goals of the competition. Oh Eun-young, the selected director, will receive a prize of 10 million won along with a distribution opportunity.

Director Oh Eun-young, who won the grand prize, stated, "the movie is a kind of road movie with scenes of a taxi passing through various environments. It was almost impossible to control the road and shoot on location with the budget of a short film, and there were various constraints, such as the actors having to drive themselves. However, by using virtual production at the VA Studio with an LED Wall, I was able to overcome these difficulties and create a high-quality work."

An official from VA Corporation expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the VA Virtual Film Festival, saying, "we sincerely thank everyone who participated in this competition. We hope that through this competition, participants had a good opportunity to experience virtual production and create excellent works. We will continue to provide full support and efforts for market expansion and talent discovery."
