VA Corporation Opens New Studio in Ilsan

On Monday, the 29th, VA Corporation held a ceremony to commemorate the opening of their new hybrid virtual production studio at the Bitmaru Broadcasting Support Center in Ilsan, Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province. During the ceremony, attended by industry professionals from the virtual production sector, guests toured the studio and witnessed a virtual production demonstration of scenes from the play "The Old Man and the Sea," rendered using VP (Virtual Production) technology.

"The Old Man and the Sea," incorporating XR (eXtended Reality) technologies, including augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR), is the first play in the country to use extended reality. In this demonstration, VA Corporation dynamically depicted the old man's struggle with a giant fish using various immersive and interactive technologies.

The newly opened Ilsan studio of VA Corporation spans a total area of 300 pyeong, with a 19.4m long and 6.2m high LED wall, and a ceiling height of 7.9m. The studio is equipped with two side effect walls and five waiting rooms (three medium-sized and two small-sized), making it a hybrid studio capable of shooting both In-Camera VFX and XR.

A VA Corporation representative stated, "The VA Corporation Ilsan studio, capable of handling all shooting methods from ICVFX to XR in one location, boasts enhanced accessibility due to its location in the Bitmaru Broadcasting Center. We expect it to significantly increase the production of diverse content such as XR live broadcasts, movies, dramas, advertisements, music videos, conferences, and virtual humans, leveraging our virtual production technology."
